I do this Abs exercise to feel like my tummy is being naturally sucked in like a weight belt is around my waist… okay not that snug but I do believe this helps me stand taller and appear slimmer.
There was time that I neglected my core and my back started to hurt, I slouched and I looked way less fit than I was. The answer was literally to tighten up my core and this was an exercise I started doing.
A challenge with this exercise is keeping the lower and shoulder still as the trunk rotates. The hands and arms connect the resistance to the core but it is really tempting to twist the entire body. A real conscious effort needs to be made to isolate the core and low weights is advisable for this one.
As with most exercise momentum can be an issue with this exercise. Keeping the body tight and still can really help isolate and lessen the opportunity of injury to the back and even the spine… youch! Be careful!
Form & Safety
As always form and safety is extremely important. Injury is always possible. I have been doing movements like this for 26 years and adding weight is natural for me. Use caution and consult professionals. But keep in mind rule 2! Intensity is one of the rules I have lived by for over 26 years.

I have kept lean and athletic for over 26 years by creating a demand for calories and eating sensibly. Working muscle, growing muscle and sustaining muscle all take calories! With a sensible diet, the extra calorie demand allows me to burn off calories that might otherwise be stored as fat.
